Digital Technology

Technology enriches and impacts on the lives of people and societies globally. Society needs innovative students who can make discerning decisions about the development and use of technologies, develop the solutions to complex challenges and contribute to sustainable patterns of living.

The Digital Technologies curriculum comprises of two related strands:
  • Knowledge  and understanding – the information system components of data, and digital systems (hardware, software and networks)
  • Processes and production skills- using digital systems to create ideas and information, and to define, design and implement digital solutions, and evaluate these solutions and existing information systems against specified criteria.

Digital Technologies is a far cry from simply learning how to word process. During our lessons, we aim to develop your child’s knowledge, understandings and skills to ensure that they will:
  • use computational thinking and the key concepts of abstraction; data collection, representation and interpretation; specification, algorithms and implementation to create digital solutions
  • confidently use digital systems to efficiently and effectively transform data into information and to creatively communicate ideas in a range of settings
  • apply systems thinking to monitor, analyse, predict and shape the interactions within and between information systems and understand the impact of these systems on individuals, societies, economies and environments
