Term 3
This term in music, students from Years 3-6 have been learning the recorder and the whole school from Pre-primary to Year 6 have been learning the Ukulele. Students have been involved in listening and responding activities, composition, playing untuned and tuned instruments and developing their singing skills. A small group of students have been learning the piano during their music class. The students are encouraged to explore and develop their music skills.
Each lesson the students learn a new song. The songs that we have looked at this term are: Into the Unknown, Faded, Wash Your Face With Orange Juice and We are Family.
In Junior choir the students have been learning Lolly pop and The Lion Sleeps Tonight. The Senior Choir are learning Angel and Sounds of Silence.

Welcome to Music
Students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 attend music for one period a week. Choir takes place each Friday with Juniors from 2.00-2.30 and Seniors from 2.30-3.00. The choir is currently learning two songs for the ANZAC service which will take place Week 10.
The whole school are learning the ANZAC songs in their music lesson. All students have been learning drumming and will be participating in music appreciation using the Listening Room Resource. We will be using boom whackers and various percussion instruments during lessons. Students are given the opportunity to play the drums, piano, glockenspiel and later in the term the recorder.
In music this term the Pre-primary students are learning about beat and rhythm, high and low and loud and soft. They sing, move, dance and play instruments to music. They will also be listening and appreciating different music genres.
Students in Year One will be looking at keeping the beat, ti-ti taa, rhythm, taa taa ti-ti taa, high and low and pitch patterns. They will be given the opportunity to learn through singing, moving and playing instruments.
Students in Year Two are learning about beat and rhythm, tone colour, long and short sounds, long and short rhythm patterns. Students will be singing, moving, dancing and playing instruments.
Students in Year Three will be looking at rhythm, rap and rhymes. With Year Four students looking at rhythms, rhyme and funky feels.
Students in Year Five are looking at Reggae Rhythms and Celtic Songs. They are also composing using Garage Band.
The Year Six students are looking at rap and rhyme. They are composing using Garage Band and various instruments. Students are learning about loops and turnarounds and will be writing their own songs.
Each lesson involves singing, theory and the playing of instruments.
