From the Principal’s Desk
Welcome to the 2016 school year and in particular to families new to North Kal. Our school has been providing quality education and care for 114 years and we look forward to building on this proud tradition during 2016 and beyond. I have been privileged to serve in the role of principal at North Kal since 2009. The strength of our school lies in the dedication of teaching and support staff, along with the strong advocacy from our school families, led by the volunteers in our P&C and School Council.
Recently I have been reflecting on the direction of our school and along with input from the School Council we have endeavoured to capture what our school stands for in the following statement:
What do we stand for?
Our school vision states: “We provide every child with an education to succeed in our changing world. Our students reflect our four core values of: responsibility, respect, caring for others and personal best. They are successful learners who are confident and creative global citizens.”
To enact this vision the school is committed and willing to be held accountable to:
That’s what we stand for

Free Word Typeathon.
It has been designed so that you can use it concurrently with a Free Trial of Typing Tournament Online. It will really help get the students engaged and learning to type.
You don't need to do anything special to participate in the competition except to get your students typing from home or school. Each week we will automatically review the typing activity and post the winning classes on the Typing Tournament Web site.
Participation in the FREE World Typeathon will give your class a great opportunity to build the vital skill of touch typing and to prepare for NAPLAN Online (Australia).
Starts Monday Nov 7th 2016 and ends Sunday Dec 18th 2016.
(For the full time table see below.)
Everyone can participate at any time
From as little as one day to the full 6 weeks and from 1 student to the whole school all may participate in the World Typeathon. Students can type from school or home on any device, including iPads. It's open to any class from any school in the world.
There are prizes every week for 6 weeks and Grand Champion prizes at the end!
Prizes include Certificates, Trophies and a ZooWhiz 24/7 Subscription.
Weekly Round winners will be posted on the TypingTournament.com leaderboard and by email.
We hope you enjoy Typing Tournament Online and that the students have lots of fun competing and learning to type.
